Poinsettia - Christmas flower core with the actual small / tiny blossoms. Euphorbia pulcherrima - Christmas flower turn red only in geographical zones with night darkness and day being approximately half. In geographical zones with longer daylight hours such as central Europe or similar, the red leaves around th e actual flower remain green. To turn cultivated Poinsettia red while living in long daylight areas, cover the entire planet from 6PM to 6AM with a card box or similar to create an artificial long dark night.
In tropical zones such as the Philippine islands of course our days and nights are all year long approximately half. Thus we enjoy the Christmas flower all year with red leaves around the actual blossoms.
